Artist in residence
We offer a private studio on the top floor of our home and gallery, with the option to work indoors or in our small city garden. You’ll have your own private floor with bedroom, workspace, and bathroom with sauna. Bed linen, towels, and toiletries are provided, and if we’re in a good mood, we might even share the Wi-Fi password.
We’re located in Zuid Gent, next to Zuidpark and within walking distance of the city center, where we’re happy to point you toward art supply shops or help you find what you need.

We enjoy sharing a few dinners together during your stay, while also giving you all the freedom to explore on your own. We value getting to know the artists we host, in an easy and informal way.
We’re quiet people. We like listening to others. We read, spend time with our cat, and move through the day at our own pace. Katrien is patient; Tom is not.
We want you to feel at ease here, and to connect naturally when it feels right.
There’s no obligation to leave work behind, but if you do, we’re grateful. We do ask that you credit the residency and our gallery in any work developed during your stay.
If timing allows, there may be an opportunity to show or sell work during your stay. Otherwise, we’re happy to support and promote your work through our channels.
Our selection process starts with a simple registration form (below). If there’s a match, we’ll schedule a video call to get to know each other and align expectations.

London based artist and designerFive Star residency – the best bit is the not the large studio space, balcony, sauna, and comfy bed – it is being accepted and welcomed into a live/work environment that is filled with delight, curiosity and warmth. The greatest thing I made during my stay, was deep friendship.
I also made an exhibition, breakfasts, lunches, dinners and conversations that where nourishing and filled with joy. The residency brought out the best in me – for this I am grateful.
